Here's how the tests were made:

Before we spray, we clean the surface with acetone to remove all oils and plasticisers. Next we take a can of the Special Patch-Maker formula of Magic Black™ Spray Paint made by Anytime Sign, and spray the 5 Solas samples. Although the paint is dry to the touch within three hours, we want to make sure it's fully cured before we subject it to the tests.

After 24 hours, the paint is fully cured and we begin with the crosshatch test. The crosshatch test is the best way to prove whether or not a paint has perfect adhesion. If masking tape can remove dried paint from an area that has been crosshatched, then we know that the paint could scratch off in the field.
If only a little dried paint comes off, it means only area that was scratched by the blade was damaged, but if more dried paint comes off from the surface between the crosshatches, it means the paint is not adhering as well as is desired. We press hard on the masking tape and see what comes off. Oralite™ 1404 adhesive-backed Solas did well.

Next we test Oralite™ 1403 fabric-backed Solas. OH OH, see the thin black lines on the tape? That's where the blade scratched the surface. Oralite™ 1403 fabric-backed Solas did not do as well. Next we test Oralite™ 1403 adhesive-backed Solas. It must be made with a different plastic than the Fabric-backed version, because no black came off.

Next we apply the tape to Solas3™. This is our favorite material. We think its the best. The tape removed no black from the Solas3™, which means the Magic Black™ Paint has perfect adhesion of Solas3™. The last sample is fabric-backed 3M™ solas. The tape removes no black from the surface, which means the Magic Black™ paint has perfect adhesion to 3M™ fabric-backed Solas.

The next test is the key test. We rub the key over every one of the samples to see if they can be scratched. There is no damage from the key on any of the 5 samples. Now we look at the samples with night vision. Here's a closeup view with regular vision. The Oralite™ 1403 fabric-backed Solas did have some damage from the crosshatch test. All the rest of the samples came through without any damage at all. Final results show that the Special Patch-Maker Magic Black™ Spray Paint made by anytime Sign works perfect on 4 of the five Solas samples.
